Camper 2025: How the Spanish brand is rethinking footwear through sustainability
Can shoes change the world? The Spanish brand Camper believes they can — though not through fashion as a surface-level style exercise. Instead, Camper approaches footwear as a thoughtful, responsible practice, where every decision is guided by long-term vision rather than short-term trends.
The 2025 Sustainability Report reinforces this approach. Camper doesn’t frame sustainability as a promise or a campaign — it’s something implemented quietly and consistently. Less about statements, more about action.
Want a concrete example? Here’s how sustainable design takes shape in practice — the Camper way.
Materials. More than half of the leather used comes from responsibly managed farms, while nearly half of the textiles are either recycled or renewable. Even the adhesive used for the soles is designed with environmental impact in mind.
Repair. Through the ReCamper program, over 12,000 pairs of shoes have been repaired and returned to use — footwear that might otherwise have become waste is now back on city streets.
Energy. All Camper operations in Spain run entirely on renewable energy sources.
Supply chain transparency. Supplier lists are made public and regular audits are carried out — not as a branding exercise, but as a matter of accountability.
Sustainability is not a trend, but a direction
Camper doesn’t follow trends — it works within a long-term direction of its own. The brand brings together progressive design and Mediterranean minimalism, pairing ethical decisions with everyday comfort rather than treating them as opposites.
Looking ahead to 2030, Camper has set goals that still feel ambitious for much of the industry: 100% recycled or natural materials, zero reliance on fossil fuels, and full transparency across every product. These targets aren’t framed as marketing promises, but as a roadmap for how the brand intends to operate.
